Friends 2021 Update

The Friends raised $109,813 to benefit the International Quilt Museum, mainly through grants, donations, Give to Lincoln Day and its annual art market fundraiser. With Covid precautions in place, the Friends pivoted and offered the popular art market as an online auction in 2020. The inaugural online auction offered 120 items and raised $20,356 with 111 bidders from 25 states and 3 European countries.

Building on the fundraising success of Project Pincushion, the Friends created Project Potholder whereby quilt guilds and individuals nationwide created and donated potholders made from quilt block sets for sale in the Museum Store. In addition to fundraising to support the Museum’s exhibitions and public programs, Friends members also volunteered their time giving virtual and in-person programs about the museum’s mission to community groups and quilt guilds.

We also celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Friends organization on June 16, 2021 at its annual meeting with a presentation recognizing the Friends’ past presidents and a historical overview of its accomplishments.
