Nancy Crow | Drawings & Riff

Having explored quilts and their visual elements since the 1970s, Nancy Crow is a leader of the studio art quilt movement. The works in this exhibition, made recently, are explorations of color, form and texture, particularly featuring Crow’s dynamic mono-printed quilts. The intensive mono-printing process is akin to a printed painting, in which thick ink is drawn, fabric is laid upon it, and the ink is transferred to the fabric. The resulting quilt series, exposing tangled, layered and emotive lines of color, has not been shown as a group prior to this exhibition.

Nancy Crow was elected a fellow of the American Craft Council in 1999 and received The National Living Treasure Award from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1996.
