First Friday: 'Feed Sacks: An American Fairy Tale' gallery walkthrough
Join us on Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m. for a special gallery walkthrough of the first exhibition of the New Year: “Feed Sacks: An American Fairy Tale.”
Led by IQM Collections Manager Sarah Walcott and Collections Assistant Jamie Swartz, learn about the history of feed sacks as well as the people who repurposed these then-ubiquitous items for bedding, clothing and quilts. This expansive exhibition opens on Jan. 19 and puts on display more than a century’s worth of quilting ingenuity.
In the spirit of the exhibition, join us in a fun activity to reuse fabric scraps to make your own mini-outfit or mini-quilt top. Materials will be provided, and all ages are welcome.
First Fridays are FREE events held on the first Friday of each month. Enjoy access to all the IQM galleries from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
