Education & Outreach

The International Quilt Museum's education and outreach page hosts many virtual learning tools, including First Friday Fun videos and activities, a series of short lessons for K-12 students, and downloadable activity and coloring sheets. We also offer educator-focused unit and lesson plans, including the For the Love of Gaia: Art and Environmentalism Complete Unit, created in collaboration with educators from our local school district in 2020.

ReadWorks - The International Quilt Museum partnered with ReadWorks to create a series of reading lessons for Grades K-8. These materials explore quilts and quilt-related topics throughout history and are sorted by grade level to address student reading goals. Each article is accompanied by a read-aloud recorded by a student and question sets teachers can assign their students, and students can also explore quilts through 2 ebooks hosted on the ReadWorks website.

World Quilts offers a global perspective on quiltmaking. It features modules focused on the United States, Central Asia, Amish quilts, and Crazy quilts, with more modules continually being developed, and is appropriate for high school and adult audiences.
