Events

Friends of International Quilt Museum frequently holds fundraising and educational events to support the museum's mission. Here is a look back at some of the activities of 2022 as well as a preview of what is planned for 2023.

Give to Lincoln Day
May 1 - 24, 2023

Give to Lincoln Day is a giving day event that encourages everyone to contribute to Lincoln and Lancaster County nonprofit organizations through a single online giving platform between May 1 and May 24. Give to Lincoln Day is coordinated by Lincoln Community Foundation, in partnership with local nonprofit organizations. Every donation given makes a bigger impact because nonprofits also get a proportional share of a $500,000 challenge match fund provided by Lincoln Community Foundation and their sponsors.

Since the first Give to Lincoln Day in 2012, the event has raised $50 million for local nonprofits.

The purpose of Give to Lincoln Day is to promote philanthropy in Lincoln and Lancaster County. There are three primary goals:

  • Introduce new donors to our nonprofit organizations.
  • Help Lincoln nonprofit organizations tell their stories and educate Lincoln about the positive impact they have on our lives.
  • Shine a community spotlight on this day of charitable giving to raise a substantial amount of new money to assist the local nonprofit network.

Online donations to participating charities are accepted from May 1 to May 24, 2023.

Art Market 2023

November 17, 2023: 11 AM - 6 PM
November 18, 2023: 10 AM - 4 PM
At the International Quilt Museum

Many of the artists from 2022 will be returning for our 9th year of Art Market in 2023.  We strive to have a good mix of items to satisfy your interests and to help you get a head start on holiday shopping.

Donations for the Friends Table are being accepted now (contact [email protected] for more information about acceptable items to donate). Additional volunteers to help during the two days are always appreciated.

Glow Big Red 2023

February 15 - 16, 2023

Glow Big Red is an annual fundraising event to support the students of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. In 2023, over $650,000 was raised through 5200 gifts for 37 organizations that support the students. As a participant in this event, the International Quilt Museum received over $8,000 from 67 gifts in 2023 and we plan to participate again in 2024.

Art Market 2022

November 18 - 19, 2022

Thank you to everyone who attended our 8th annual Art Market fundraiser in November 2022 at the International Quilt Museum. This in-person event attracted more than 650 visitors for the two-day event. Twenty-three booths with a variety of items were available for shopping, including: quilts, fabric, kits, notions, wood carving, jewelry, watercolor painting, paper, leather journals, fused & stained glass, graphic & multimedia art, metal sculpture, ceramics, fiber art & wool, and basketweaving.

The event culminated in almost $27,000 in sales and sponsorships. And approximately $14,000 was raised to benefit the museum!

We are especially thankful to our ‘friends’ who donated items.  Friends Table sales totaled nearly $6,500.

Thank you to the volunteers, artists, sponsors and attendees who made this event possible.

We are planning for Art Market 2023 now, so if you wish to donate or volunteer, please contact Janet Phillips at [email protected].
