Fundraising

The largest fundraiser for the Friends of the IQM is the annual Art Market. We appreciate sponsorships for Art Market to help with expenses, along with donations of items for the Friends Table at Art Market. We also raise funds through advertising other events which may result in sponsorships, or other items to be used for the operation of the IQM. Should you wish to make a monetary donation you may contact Executive Director Leslie Levy,  [email protected], or the University of Nebraska Foundation.

PROJECT POTHOLDER

Fundraising

Another Friends fundraiser is “Project Potholder.” The IQM store sells potholders personally made by many of our area quilters and their quilt guilds. They are a "hot" item, and we appreciate that quilters use up their fabric stash to share their talents with us.

Here are the guidelines if you wish to make a potholder for the IQM store. You can drop them off at the front desk of the musuem or mail them directly. The proceeds of potholder sales are used to bring new exhibits to the museum. In 2024 the potholders brought in over $6,000 for the museum. No wonder the IQM store has requested that we continue Project Potholder for one more year.

Project Potholder guidelines:

  • Make two potholders sold as pairs (they do not need to be identical)
  • 6” to 10” in any shape
  • Fabric should be 100% quilt quality cotton
  • Batting should be 2 layers of cotton or wool, or 1 layer of batting plus 1 layer of insulation such as Insul-Bright©
  • Include a hanging loop

Whatever the reason – use up your fabric stash, get together with friends, teach a new person about sewing, or just for fun – be creative!
