Image Reproduction Policy
Permission is granted for one-time use, in a single publication, in any medium (e.g. printed, digital), and in a single edition (single language). Photographic material may not be reused without the written permission of the International Quilt Museum (IQM).
The complete credit line including "International Quilt Museum, University of Nebraska-Lincoln" and the object number (example shown below) must appear on the same page as the reproduction, or on the opposite page, or on the reverse. If the IQM photographic reproduction(s) are the only one(s) to be used in this publication, you may list only the item's specific information with the reproduction. The full documentation must appear elsewhere in the publication.

The object (quilt) in the image may not be cropped, bled, or over printed and nothing may be superimposed over the reproduction(s) without prior written permission. A specific detail reproduction must also be approved in writing in advance and the word "detail" must be used in the caption.
Applicants may not duplicate or distribute in any way an electronic file, slide, negative, or transparency without written permission from the IQM.
In the case of works by living artists, prior written permission must be secured by the applicant from the artist, their agent, or copyright owner. A copy of this permission must be provided to the IQM.
The IQM assumes no responsibility for royalties or fees claimed by the artist or other third parties.
The IQM is to receive, gratis, at least three copies of the publication in which the reproduction appears within 30 days of publication.
Image Reproduction Fees
All images are rented, not sold, for use as specified in the attached contract. Possession of an IQM image does not constitute permission to use it.
Commercial: $100.00 per image; $250.00 per image on the cover of a publication;
Non-Profit: $50.00 handling fee; All institutions, publishers, and individuals claiming non-profit status may be required to present proof of status at the request of the IQM.
Images will be delivered digitally. Additional costs will apply for delivery in any other format. Image requests must be made in writing (email accepted) and include a description of the contextual use of the image. Payment is due upon receipt of invoice.
Image use fee may be waived for publicity-only use with PRIOR approval by the IQM. The image must be accompanied by information directly relating to the IQM, academic program, museum, programs, or exhibitions. Location, website address, and contact information must be published. The IQM must be furnished, gratis, with a copy of the final publication.
Fair Use: Fair use of copyrighted material includes the one-time use of protected materials for non-commercial educational purposes, such as teaching, scholarship, research, criticism, commentary, and news reporting. Unless otherwise noted, users who wish to download or print text and image files from internationalquiltmuseum.org for such uses may do so with the IQM's express permission, if they comply with the following conditions:
1. The content may only be used for personal, educational or noncommercial purposes;
2. Users must cite the source of the content as they would material from any printed work;
3. The citation must include all copyright information and other information associated with the content and URL for the IQM.
4. None of the content may be altered or modified.
5. Users must comply with all other terms or restrictions which may be applicable to the individual file, image, or text.
Ten working days are required to fulfill image requests. A rush fee of $200 will be billed for requests of shorter periods.
All fees are at the discretion of the IQM and are subject to change. The IQM reserves the right to refuse to grant permission and/or to provide image reproductions to publishers and individuals who have not complied with this policy or whose intended use of images contradicts the stated mission of the IQM.
