Textile Art Summer Camps

Monday, July 13, 2026 to Friday, July 31, 2026

Spend a week making art, learning new skills, and having fun at Textile Art Camps! Campers will experience a hands-on summer camp full of sewing, art projects, and creativity.

With small class sizes (only 10 campers) and guidance from experienced art educator Lindy Clausen, campers will receive personalized instruction in a fun, supportive environment. Days include art projects, gallery sketching, games, walks around East Campus, and plenty of creative exploration.

The week ends with a family art show celebrating everything the campers created.

It's the perfect experience for curious, creative kids who love to make things!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Camps are divided into age groups with a maximum of 10 kids per class.

Cost and Hours

  • $300 for non-members, $270 for IQM members
  • Programming hours are from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., but parents can drop off/pick up from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

*You may register siblings for the same week, regardless of age.  Please let Lindy know so she is aware that your child will be slightly older or younger than the rest of the class. Please also make your child aware of this. Email [email protected]

Activities

  • Camp will include a variety of art mediums and materials. In addition to textiles and sewing, campers will be painting, drawing and weaving. The students will work on several projects throughout the week and will be given instruction, support, and designated time for each project. Students will also learn best practices and safety with special tools like scissors, pins, needles, irons, and sewing machines. Sketching in the galleries, walks to destinations around East Campus, organized games, and other “ice breaker” activities will be part of the daily schedule to encourage community and friendships amongst campers.

Teaching and Instruction

  • Camp will be led by Lindy Clausen, Education Coordinator at the International Quilt Museum.  Lindy taught as a public school art teacher and classroom teacher for 11 years, and will celebrate her third year at the museum in June.  Lindy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Art Education, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration. Lindy describes herself as organized, easy-going, creative, nurturing, and passionate about unlocking each child’s love of art.
  • Additional adults helping with camp are volunteers from the International Quilt Museum. Each volunteer comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge, and has passed a background check with DHHS.

Meals & Snacks

  • Breakfast is NOT provided. Please have your child eat breakfast before drop off.
  • Students need to bring a cold lunch each day. Lunches can be refrigerated at the museum. Lunch time will be 11:30 a.m.
  • Students should include an afternoon snack in their cold lunch. Snack time will be at 2:45 p.m. each day.
  • All students are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle that they can refill during the day.
  • Due to food allergies, please remind your child that they can NOT share their food with others.
  • If your child has a specific food allergy or might require a special plan during meal time, please contact Lindy [email protected]
  • We plan to take a walking field trip to the UNL Dairy Store after lunch on Friday to celebrate a successful week! If unable to eat ice cream, your child may bring their own special treat for that time.
