TEXTILE TALK: Conversation with Carolyn O'Bagy Davis about Quilts from the Hopi Mesas

Wednesday, January 26, 2022

1 p.m. Central/2 p.m. Eastern

In this free, Zoom-based Textile Talk, IQM Curator of Collections Dr. Carolyn Ducey will visit with scholar and collector Carolyn O’Bagy Davis about her quilts and objects in the exhibition, Painted Quilts from the Hopi Mesas. Quiltmaking became a tradition after its introduction to Hopi women by Christian missionaries more than 100 years ago. Hopi quiltmakers include designs unique to their culture, which are also often reflected in their pottery and baskets.
