A Conversation with artist Basil Kincaid
Presented by: International Quilt Museum
The International Quilt Museum presents quilt collector and curator Roderick Kiracofe in a discussion with US artist Basil Kincaid about his work -- a combination of quilting, collaging, photography, installation and performance--done with found, salvaged and donated materials. Kincaid interrogates social mores while drafting alternative cultural fabrics. With an improvisational and community-oriented approach, resourcefulness and freedom of imagination emerge as critical components in the liberation of spirit. The IQM, in 2020, with support from Kiracofe, added a sculptural piece by Basil Kincaid titled Self Portrait: I Am Not My Labor, to the museum’s collection.
