We hope you will join us online for another Textile Talk on October 7 at 2 p.m. Eastern as the Modern Quilt Guild presents "Seeing Myself: A Story Through Quilting with Aisha Lumumba."

In this Textile Talk, the Modern Quilt Guild’s Colleen Molen is joined by Aisha Lumumba. Aisha is a prolific quilter as well as an author of ten books where she has beautifully combined her loves of writing, vegetarian cooking, and quilting. In this conversation, we’ll see Aisha’s evolution as a quilter and talk about the importance of representation in the art we leave for the next generation of artists.

Aisha Lumumba is notorious for creating totally out-the-box colorful textile art that ranges from landscapes to portraits and everything in between. She loves to push the envelope when it comes to the boundaries of fiber design. "I constantly trying to represent myself and my heritage in my art as I incorporate more and more techniques," Ms. Lumumba says.

Ms. Lumumba is also nationally known for her soulful vegetarian cookbooks, but her quilting makes her famous. She was able to marry her love for quilting with her love of writing together in her books. She is a published author and now has ten books to her credit.
